Email Warnings About 9/11 From Richard Clarke to Condi Rice

Faiz is covering The Commission: The Uncensored History of the 9/11 Investigation by Philip Shenon and lists some of Clarke’s emails to Rice during 2001:

“Bin Ladin Public Profile May Presage Attack” (May 3)
“Terrorist Groups Said Co-operating on US Hostage Plot” (May 23)
“Bin Ladin’s Networks’ Plans Advancing” (May 26)
“Bin Ladin Attacks May Be Imminent” (June 23)
“Bin Ladin and Associates Making Near-Term Threats” (June 25)
“Bin Ladin Planning High-Profile Attacks” (June 30)
“Planning for Bin Ladin Attacks Continues, Despite Delays” (July 2)

Faiz is focusing on how Philip Zelikow tried to undermine Clarke’s testimony. But it is as clear now that Clarke was telling the truth as it is that Condi Rice was the “worst national security” ever – to quote David Kay. My question – did Condi even bother to read her emails?

I linked to the Sunday Morning Herald discussion of Shenon’s book as it has much more on the White House incompetence during 2001 and its efforts to cover this up.
