Army Reserve and National Guard versus Regular Army
Forgive me for asking a stupid question, but why would anyone straight out of high school join the Army Reserve or the National Guard right now? Consider – if you want to serve in a combat zone, you would go ahead and sign up for the regular Army, as it increases your likelihood of a combat zone posting. On the other hand, if you specifically do not want to end up in a combat zone, well, the Army Reserve or the National Guard is not the right place for you either. One weekend a month, two weeks a year has gone by the wayside a while ago.
joining the guard allows you to stay at home and serve your country. you can even get full time jobs in the guard and pursue a career in the NG. If you want to travel, join the Regular (active) army. if you like where you are, then join the NG. the NG also gives you more money for college than the regular army.
fuck you all
That guy above me is a fucking faggot. Excuse my french but dont diss us military kind ok!!! 😀
your a senior in high school do a 3 year stint with the guard and get an education from them first then if you like your job with the NG then go active its fun just cam out of a 4 year with active went guard first and got a p.h.d in law then went active and got promoted to an e-7 from an e-5 better pay and full benns
“Those who have a skill beyond “carrying a rifle” as an infantryman”
That total BS, because most people are too lazy to do their jobs to support Infantry. So therefore being Infantry you have to learn your job, and everyone else’s. As far as “carrying a rifle” most people in other MOS are too afraid to do that, so they become fobbits.
I tried to get into the Army but they denied me because of my past recored which is not really that bad. The only people that would even consider me was the National Guard. Im not a coward or anything this is just the only thing they would let me do
^^^ Mike same exact situation here. Its ok though because RI has a NG airborne unit which is the 143d and wanted to go infantry anyways even with a 72 asvab score…
SFC Don’t Know Shit.
You can’t spell or punctuate or put together a grammatical sentence but somehow came out with a ‘p.h.d.’ which should be a ‘Ph.D.’ in a field that doesn’t grant Ph.Ds but rather JDs or honorary LLDs. Not that any senior in H.S. could expect to get a seven year (between B.A. and JD) degree part time while enlisted in the Guard for four years. Plus unless things have changed mightily NOBODY goes from E-5 to E-7 without time in grade as an E-6 plus lawyers are officers anyway.
And to add insult to ignorant injuries I never heard of a service person referring to ‘benns’ as opposed to ‘bennies’.
Are you just screwing with ‘Guest’? Or with us? I mean Christ this self proclaimed H.S. senior can’t spell ‘which’ correctly, you really think he is going to ace even the ASVAB? Still less parlay Army Basic into passing the LSAT in a way that has the Guard paying his way through Law School?
A tragic waste of bandwidth is my judgement. Who are you trying to kid here?
