December Employment Report
The latest from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
Nonfarm employment increased by 167,000 in December, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.5 percent
The Household Survey reports an increase in employment equal to 303,000, which was enough to increase the employment-population from 63.3% to 63.4%. The unemployment rate did not decline, however, because the labor force participation rate increased from 66.3% to 66.4%.
