First they coddled the white supremacists with false equivalency, and I didn’t resign from the Trump Evangelical Council because those protesting the white supremacists didn’t have a permit…
Here in Northeast Indiana on the day after the election, a seemingly nice older woman, educated and well spoken, admitted that she voted for Trump because she was “pro life”. I did not engage her then on the folly of her vote, but I really am curious to know whether she is a racist and fascist. I hope not but if not she and others of her ilk rally have to speak out if only to give their GOP Senators and Representatives a little backbone
Hey, if you can tear down a statue because of the illusion of a few persons you should respect those who decide a fetus is a human being just like an abolitionist in 1850 decided a slave was a human being.
To abortion supporters a fetus is property of woman to be disposed like a slave could be sold in Maryland in 1862
if one thinks the war between the states was fought over slavery one should respect those who decide a fetus is a human being just like an abolitionist in 1850 decided a slave was a human being.

There are people who oppose abortion for genuine moral reasons. But there are many politicians who exploit the issue for tactical and strategic advantage. Too many of the latter have allied themselves with reactionary scum. Their objections to abortion forfeits any moral standing. Also, ILSM, please don’t lie and don’t be glib. Whether it is legal or illegal, whether you think it is morally defensible or not, having an abortion is a tragic choice for a woman to make. The argument against outlawing abortion is not that a fetus is the property of a woman but that her own body is. You may respectfully disagree with that. But stop the lying.
And, incidentally, a lot of those politicians I mentioned who are so “morally” aghast at abortion for tactical and strategic advantage are apologists for rape culture. Give you an example? “when you are a star… they’ll let you do anything… grab ’em by the pussy.” You can’t be “pro-life” and pro-rape like Vice President Pence and Speaker Ryan and Senate Majority Leader McConnell are. If you are pro-Trump you are an apologist for rape culture. Or what part of “grab em by the pussy” are you too stupid to understand?
It is not hard to be anti-abortion and to thoroughly repudiate Trump’s endemic racism and sexism. Those who tip-toe around the latter because they want him in to appoint anti-abortion judges are hypocrites, not “pro-life” but anti-women.
Break up the big banks and cast out the Wall Street money changers. Redistribute the wealth, thus destroying the political climate that enables racists and fascists to gain traction.
Perhaps religion should be treated as a manageable condition.

The problem with religion isn’t religion, it’s the church (or mosque, or crazy people reading insane materials in private, or whatever).
I grew up in an evangelical protestant church, was in the building every time it opened the doors (three worships a week plus bible studies). I have certain limited but fundamental issues with the doctrine of the church I grew up in, but the reason I don’t go now is entirely unrelated to that. The issues I have with churches is that, institutionally, they seem to be incapable of policing their own, so they will tend to become a festering wound. The Catholic church’s public struggle with priest abuse is just the tip of the iceberg.
Those who I respect who are still in the church will dismiss that as a problem in specific churches, but knowing that for every abuse that becomes public dozens are undiscovered means that I’ll never willingly put my family into that community.
For every 100 well meaning and generally safe people (with whatever weird political ideology there may be) there may be only one predator, but the flock willingly hides the wolves.
When will Trump say it – white extremist terrorism – he can’t even say the name.

This is a cowardly lie.
Well said . . .
abolition was pretty nearly pro life.

“We must remember that art is art.
Well, on the other hand water is water isn’t it?
And east is east and west is west.
And if you take cranberries and stew them like applesause
they taste much more like prunes than rubarb does.
Now uh…now you tell me what you know.”
Groucho Marx
And just how much cotton has a fetus picked?
Actually, the historically correct analogy is anti-abortion = forced birth = slavery.
SW,
Kudos. Ever in Phoenix give me a call. Drinks are on me.

Sandwich,
In matters of faith there is only belief. If you view a belief a lie (false fact) then you can be lead to even less logical responses.
Second point legal is not moral, and all human decisions are emotional which finds belief as a basis.
Less a lie than a delusion.
Perhaps religion should be treated as a manageable condition.
