Boehner Making a Point on Bush Foreign Policy as Compared to Obama’s
Click on the Post
Boehner is talking about a man who put the minimum amount of time in at his National Guard air base of duty, failed to qualify as a pilot in 1972, and was subsequently grounded. Guess flying missions in Vietnam was out of the question?
But according to Boehner in a “my dad would whip your dad moment,” Bush would have punched Putin.
Bush gave Putin the OK to do exactly what he is doing when Bush declared that we could go anywhere to blow up stuff to protect our paranoia.
Did he forget how Putin invaded Georgia while Bush was President?
What did Bush do?
Nothing
axt:
Boehner would have to know first in order to remember. They are pretty blind to their own mistakes.
W Bush missed enough “training meetings” to have been called to “involuntary” active duty, were it not for his connections. Rumsfeld had as much covckpit time as W but between Korea and Vietnam. While Cheney only put on a uniform at Halloween.
While W kept the US tied up in Kosovo a place called NATO Camp Bondsteel. Obama is just as strong on keep US boots on the ground in Serbia.
Since 1996 US has been tearing apart Serbia while keep another imaginary country from 1919 stitched together.
ilsm:
Having studied the Hapsburgs up till the assassination of the Arch Duke and watching all of the little countries disappear during WWII only to remain submerged when the Russians took over, it was interesting to see them emerge again and go back to the one thing they were all good at doing . . . fighting amongst themselves.
Boehner and republicans (in general) seem to believe that its good to have a president whose idea of a solution to a complex world wide problem is to have a fist fight with another countries leader.
I’d say how childish of them but even children don’t view fistfights as ideal.
You know Dumbya did not get his name because of his intellect and he did keep himself pretty fit during his appointment as president of the United States, but there is absolutely no way he punches Putin. No bully ever attacks someone unless he/she is sure to win and I do not think you could even find odds on Dumbya taking down a former KGB officer and martial arts expert.
Dave Becker, Putin’s restrained geopolitical actions in no way compare to America’s acting like a bull in a china shop on the other side of the globe, to quote Lavrov, and were in fact provoked by US destabilization of Ukraine.
Ken,
I was not implying they compare. I was simply noting what my initial thought was when Bush made his policy. And that was they Bush had just made it OK for Putin to go beyond where he was. It’s the: If you can do it, so can I.
Yes, I do understand the NATO issue related to the agreement we had that it would not extend into the Ukraine and that Putin saw the Ukraine wanting to connect with the EU as such.
We know that John Beohner is an empty suit. Whether he truly believes even half the crap that he spews inn public is a mystery. I tend to think not and assume that Beohner is where he is because he is smart enough to know that what he says publicly is just that, for public consumption. What is more depressing than the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the U.S. talking like a fool is that his audience is laughing and generally laps up the gruel (disguised as Pablum) that Beohner usually feeds them.
Democracy is government by the lowest possible denominator of the governed. Keep in mind that by definition the average IQ score is 100, +/- 15. That level of understanding of one’s environment afflicts more than 60% of our citizenry. On top of that sad fact is the fact that there is an entire media circus that is intent on carrying the gruel that is served up by our political class to the homes and tables of the nation without benefit of serious criticism or analysis.
Even Rand Paul is Cold Warrioring along, largely repudiating his father’s
non-interventionism.
Now if there were only more Dennis Kuciniches in the Dem. Party, we might begin to get a difference.
I find this comment hysterical coming from John Boehner, the truth is, that the Republicans left a mess for this president to clean up, in fact, I’d change the party emblem from the donkey to a broom.
Bush and his league sent troops into Iraq, so that few, that there was one soldier for every 100 miles of border with Iran, this is the stuff of incompetents.
And Bush looked into Putin’s eyes and saw a good soul, Jumping Jesus! there are no words.
This is the man who let his own people die on a sub, because “it would have cost too much to try to rescue them”, good soul? this is an old politburo leftover who basically is stinking up the landscape in Eastern Europe. But we know, if Bush was president, he would have punched him or better yet, thrown a shoe at him.
Look Reagan pulled troops out of Lebanon and emboldened these criminals in the Middle East, Reagan ignored Charlie Wilson and didn’t invest 1 million to educate Afgans, BUT, Reagan turned his head when Iran Contra was infecting our foreign policy.
Yeah, in my view, Boehner whose only claim to fame, is to destroy the shreds of bipartisanship left in the Congress, the few shreds left behind by Gingrich, should figure out how he’ll get the engine of the Congress started again, Boehner is a poster boy for failure of leadership, but sound bites like this keep that stench upwind.
