What The Rude Pundit Said
Christopher Dodd ruins his reputation:
Go read about [SOPA and PIPA], if you haven’t, because it’s pretty insidious stuff, not just because of the governmental control, but because of the corporate power behind it….
Former Senator Chris Dodd, now head of the Motion Picture Association of America (motto: “You can only be our leader if you’re a male with a full head of white hair”), issued a statement attacking the websites that are participating in today’s strike/blackout. It says, in part, “It’s a dangerous and troubling development when the platforms that serve as gateways to information intentionally skew the facts to incite their users in order to further their corporate interests.”
You got that? The whore who fronts for an industry owned by multinational megacorporations like NewsCorp, Sony, and Viacom is actually attacking BoingBoing.net owners Happy Mutants LLC for using the internet for some evil agenda to steal Chipmunk movies just because they went on a one-day strike. That’s a bit like Ted Bundy accusing a student nurse of having a messy dorm room just before bludgeoning her to death.
SOPA, PIPA, Internet regualtion, DMCA and Patriot acts all come along with more government and the expectation that governmnet should run and regulate everything. So remember that each time you grant it more power.
Social Security is a great program, but at the hands of thieves they will eventually plunder it – starting to happen.
And the Democrats have been duplicitous to republicans in their censorship efforts. But people keep voting for the same fools over and over. Until people realize that BOTH parties are the problem, then this is what we will get. This will be the third Presendential election where I will not vote for either party at the national level.
Dodd was an unethical scumbag long ago (Countrywide anyone), along with 98% of both houses.
Glad to see the blackouts raise awareness of these bad bills granting governnment more power.
But, the raucous will provide cover for Obama’s rejection of the Keystone Pipeline project, and the jobs it might create.
Very frustrating times. I have zero faith in governmnet to do the right thing.
mcwop,
Welcome to the Empire. Have you only first discovered that the brothel we call the Capitol consists of kept Republicans and Democrats alike. I hate to bring it to your attention, but that Keystone pipeline project is not too different. It will bring a few more jobs of undetermined duration, but it will also defile the landscape.
Ken, Though I welcome the recognition of Dodd as a common street tramp, the use of the word whore to describe his behavior is an insult to a certain class of working women and men every where. At least they give an honest days work for their compensation. Maybe the word whore should for ever more be reserved for describing various behaviors which occur only within the political arena and related fields of endeavor.
Jack, I truly doubt Dodd doesn’t work hard enough for his “whore” cred. Just sayin’.
